The Meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the Vice President, Charlie Beale at the Days Inn, South Hill, Virginia.

Charlie Beale welcomed Mike Gibson from Region 3

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 9 to make a $25.00 contribution to the American Heart Association and $25.00 to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Vernia Stephens, Roger Fitchett mother.

There is a correction to the minutes of the March 16, 2008 board meeting. Page four paragraphs two should be majority vote.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 5 with the correction that the March 16, 2008 minutes be approved. This motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 10, seconded by Region 5 to approve the treasurer’s report. This motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 10, seconded by Region 5 to approve the boat raffle report. This motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Each region director has the 2009 boat raffle tickets.

Tim Mick reported that the youth now has a website it is basseast.com.

Douglas Freeman High School held a four day fishing seminar with 255 kids. Tim took them fishing the last day. A biologist from DGIF was there to answer any questions.

On May 31, 2008 Michael Hall held a youth tournament with 100 kids participating.

August 13-15, 2008 will be the JWC in Columbia, SC at Lake Monticello. The following will be attending.

Age 11-14 – Ryan Drewey Southern Va. Junior B/M

Age 15-18 – Brian Lankford Virginia Junior Anglers

Tim wanted to thank Region 6 for all their help with the Last Chance tournament on Lake Gaston.

Patches will be giving to the junior 6-man teams.

A youth qualifying tournament will be held September 28, 2008 on the Chickahominy River going out at the route 5 bridge ramp, hosted by Region 8 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Tim now has a secretary her name is Lisa Fore and would like for her to attend the two youth meeting with expense paid.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 1 to create a position of secretary for the State Youth Director. Expenses will be paid for the March and November Youth meeting. Motion PASSED by the following vote.

A request was made to purchase a set of scales for the youth.

The Tight Lines will be posted the week of June 24, 2008.

There will be a Children’s Miracle Network tournament August 23, 2008 on the Chickahominy River at the route 5 bridge.

The Virginia Bass Federation will host a Concerned Bass Anglers of Virginia tournament August 24, 2008 on the Chickahominy River at the route 5 bridge.

Anyone interested in being a Conservation Director for the Virginia Bass Federation, contact Roger Fitchett.

Teresa Whitmore has deiced that she is not interested in the assistant secretary position.

Anyone interested in this position contact Roger Fitchett.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 7 to sell the Region 2 tournament scales to Region 6 for $300.00. This motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

A new tournament program has been purchased for $300.00 from Pro Tournament Scales.

At the last Chapter Team tournament the printer broke so a new printer will be purchased.

The Virginia Bass Federation new trailer has been purchased and is in the parking lot at the Days Inn, South Hill, Virginia.

The Fall Classic will be hosted by Region 9. The host motel will be the Days Inn Aquia/Quantico.

The Virginia Bass Federation won the Lowrance award and received $5,000.00.

Thank you to Conni and Russ Shetley, Tim Mick, Pete Robbins, Brenda Beale and anyone else that helped put the Lowrance book together.

Charlie Beale had a meeting with Frank Malone from the South Chamber of Commerce and Tommy Davis from the Days Inn South Hill to discuss the Chapter Team tournament.

A discussion of combining the two Chapter Team tournaments and also having the Mr. Bass and Fall Classic on Buggs Island and Lake Gaston. This is to be taken back and discussed with the membership.

It is the Consensus of the board to keep the format of the 2009 Chapter Team tournament the same.

A discussion of having Sea-Tow as the rescue boat for the Chapter Team tournaments. Charlie Beale will contact them and report at the next board meeting.

By-law 4.6-3 will be tabled until the board meeting March 2009.

Stuart Wood announced that if he is nominated he would like to run for Vice President.

Region 7 now has a 24 foot pontoon fish release boat. If anyone is interested in using it contact Craig Owens.

Charlie Beale announced that if he is nominated he would like to run for President.

It was reported that Rooster Wells was home on hiatus.

Their being no further business to come before the board the meeting adjourned at 11:55 a.m.
