The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President Roger Fitchett at the Days Inn, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Ron Southwick from DGIF and Teresa Whitmore.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 1 that the November 18, 2007 minutes be approved. Motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Kenny Brown as the new Region 1 Director.

Ron Southwick from DGIF reported on a low abundance of juvenile largemouth on Briery Creek Lake. This research shows that a primary food resource in Briery is half the size that it is in Sandy River. Also the concentration of the enzyme responsible for digesting protein in fish is lower in Briery than Sandy River. This research will be finished soon and the trophy production largemouth should return.

The electro fishing surveys of the tidal Chickahominy indicate that this is a very healthy largemouth population.

Roger Fitchett presented Larry Elliott with a plaque of apperception for his work in Conservation. Bill Haire also received a plaque of appreciation for his work as the Region 1 Director.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 5 to approve the treasure’s report. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 10, seconded by Region 5 to approve the boat raffle report. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 10 to accept Teresa Whitmore as a trainee for Secretary/Treasurer’s position. Her expenses will be paid for any events she attends. Motion PASSED by the following vote.

Bob Sizemore will be Region 9 Youth Coordinator and Kevin Galenski will be Region 1 Youth Coordinator.

The federation needs a Conservation Director. Anyone interested contact Roger Fitchett.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 9 to put the Tight Lines on the Virginia Bass Federation website. Motion PASSED by the following vote.

Tight Lines article are due February 22, 2008.

The 2009 application for the boat raffle permit has been filled out and ready to be submitted to the Charitable Gaming Commission.

Each director is to take back to their members and explain why selling raffle tickets are important for the operations of the federation.

The MacEvent boat show at the Richmond Conference Center went very well. Region 6 and Region 7 sold tickets.

The Richmond Fishing Show will be January 25-27, 2008.

Region 1 and Region 9 will be selling tickets at the Fredericksburg fishing show February 8-9, 2008.

At this time there is no report on the tournament trailer. Charlie Custer will report at the March board meeting.

The Mr. Bass packet will be given to each director at the March board meeting,

The 2008 Chapter Team Championship contract has been signed by South Hill.

Motion by Region 10 that three clubs from Region 10 be permitted to switch scheduled weekends to fish the Chapter Team Championship. Motion did not receive a second.

By-law change 7.4-1 the Virginia State Team was submitted. To change the make-up of the State Team to 1/3^rd from each event.

By-law change 7.1-3 dues were submitted. Chapter which has not paid their dues by December 31^st will lose their eligibility to fish Mr. Bass and the Chapter Team Tournaments.

These by-law changes will be voted on at the March board meeting.

Motion by Region 6, seconded by Region 7 to pay James Vick mileage from his home to Mare Marine in Aqua to pick up the raffle boat. Motion FAILED by the following vote.

Kenny Brown wanted to thank everyone for making him feel welcome to the board.

It was requested that the raffle boat be available sooner than December.

There being no further business to come before the board meeting it was adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
