The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President, Roger Fitchett at the Days Inn, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett wanted to thank everyone for the donations and cards after him Mom passed away.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Mike Gibson from Region 3.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 5 to approve the minutes of the June 22, 2008 board meeting. This motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 5 to approve the treasurer’s report. This motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 3 to approve the boat raffle report. This motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Tim Mick reported that Ryan Drewey and Brian Lankford will be leaving Tuesday for the Junior World Championship in Columbia, South Carolina.

Tim had a meeting with the contact person from each youth club to talk about any problems. One of the biggest is support and boats.

In the meeting it was decided to raise the money for the boat captains to $25.00 per child.

In the meeting it was also decided to limit the amount of water a kid can fish. This keeps the boat captains from traveling so far from the ramp.

Angler of the Year will be a new youth award that will be presented at the Richmond Fishing Expo.

In order for Tim to order more Reel Kids kits the survey in each package must be filled out and returned to Tim.

Region 8 will host the Junior Six Man tournament September 27, 2008.

An additional tournament will be added in October also hosted by Region 8.

Anyone that has plaques and would like to donate them to the youth for recycling, contact their youth coordinator.

Tim Mick requested that an asterisk be placed beside each youth event on the schedule. That way no clubs or region will schedule an event on that day.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 9 to have the August 23, 2008 Children’s Miracle Network tournament. This motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

It was recommended by Roger Fitchett to cancel the Children’s Miracle Network tournament.

Article for the fall issue of Tight Lines are due August 25, 2008.

Article for the winter issue of Tight Lines are due November 1, 2008.

Anyone interested in being a Conservation Director for the Virginia Bass Federation contact Roger Fitchett.

The Mr. Bass for 2009 will be hosted by Region 5. This tournament will be held on Smith Mountain Lake.

The 2008 Fall Classic will be hosted by Region 9 on the Potomac River. The host motel will be the Best Western Aquia/Quantico, Stafford, Virginia.

Since Roger Fitchett will not be attending the Mid-Atlantic Divisional tournament he has appointed Charlie Beale as team captain.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 10 that the two Chapter Team Championships for 2009 be combined and the Fall Classic be held using South Hill as the host town. With the contingency South Hill will accept the Virginia Bass Federation financial offer.

Motion PASSED by the following vote.

Region 1 – Abstain Region 6 – Abstain Region 10 - Yes

Region 3 – Abstain Region 7 – Yes V. Pres. - Yes

Region 4 – Yes Region 8 – No

Region 5 – Yes Region 9 – Abstain

Discussion on quarterly board meeting was tabled until the November 16, 2008 board meeting.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 3 to give Conni and Russ a $100.00 Visa gift card. This motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

The 2009 schedule of events will be available at the November 16, 2008 board meeting.

Region 5 nominated Charlie Beale for President.

Region 8 nominated Stuart Wood for Vice President.

Region 5 nominated David Sanders for Vice President.

The Richmond Fishing Expo will be January 16-18, 2009.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 9 to donate $200.00 to the Sportsman Reward Fund. This motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

September 20, 2008 Region 5 will host an Adam & Eve tournament out of Grassy Creek on Buggs Island.

Region 7 used their 24 foot pontoon fish release boat at their last tournament.

July 11, 2008 the St. Jude tournament was held with a good turn out.

Mike Gunn will be hosting a family fish day at Osborne Landing on James River.

Their being no further business to come before the board the meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
