The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President, Roger Fitchett at the Days Inn, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Peter Herbst, webmaster, Ray Paseur and Mike Pendleton Region 8 Representative

A motion by Region 10, seconded by Region 9 that the August 12, 2007 minutes be approved. Motion PASSED with unanimous voice vote.

A motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 10 to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

The raffle boat has not arrived at Mare Marine as of the November board meeting.

Boat raffle ticket money and stubs are due at the January 20, 2008 board meeting.

Pete Herbst our webmaster and Ray Paseur presented a program of online tournament results. Pete and Ray will attend our January 20, 2008 to discuss this program more.

Rooster Wells from Boy Scout Troop #7454 was present to pass out flyers for the Boy Scout tournament April 27, 2008.

Larry Elliott our Conservation Director is resigning due to work and family schedule

Larry will continue to go to the General Assembly and represent the Virginia Bass Federation.

The federation still needs a conservation director.

Tight Lines articles are due February 27, 2008 for the spring issue.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 1 to table the discussion on putting Tight Lines on the website until the January 20, 2008 board meeting. Motion PASSED by unharmonious voice vote.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 9 for Roger Fitchett to contact Ranger boats and Yamaha about putting the raffle boat on EBay instead of selling tickets. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Russ Shetley will check on what has to be done to list a boat on EBay.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 5 to approve the budget. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

The Mac Event boat show will be January 11-13, 2008 downtown Richmond at the conference center. Region 7 and Region 6 will help with the youth corner and sell raffle tickets.

The Fishing Expo will be January 25-27, 2008 at the Raceway complex. Region 3 and Region 8 will help with the youth corner and sell raffle tickets.

The Fredericksburg Outdoor show will be February 8-10, 2008. Region 1 and Region 9 will help with the youth corner and sell raffle tickets.

There will be a conference call December 6. 2007 at 8:00 p.m. to discuss auctioning off a boat instead of a raffle

It has been recommended by a CPA that we make no change to our IRS status.

Motion by Region 4, seconded by Region 3 to change the August 23, 2008 Children’s Miracle Network tournament from North Landing River to Chickahominy River. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 3 to have a CBVA fund raising tournament on August 24, 2008 on the Chickahominy River. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 3 to move the October 6, 2008 Children’s Miracle Network tournament to October 12, 2008. To move the tournament from Claytor Lake to Smith Mountain Lake State Park. Then the classic would be November 2, 2008 at Smith Mountain Lake. State Park. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Tim Mick had a Youth Coordinators meeting and Tanya Smith is the new Region 3 coordinator. Region 1, 8 and 9 do not have a youth coordinator.

Because of the interest in youth clubs in the northern part of Virginia Youth Coordinators are needed.

The following are the 2007 Youth Awards

Region of the year – Region 6

Club of the year – Nottoway Bassmasters

Large sponsor of the year – Wal-Mart of South Boston & Bass Pro Shop of Hampton

Small sponsor of the year – Dan’s Heating & Air Conditioner

Volunteer of the year – Lonnie Hill of Castaway

The name of Youth club sponsor has been changed Youth club contacts.

Each club that sponsors a youth club is responsible for providing boats.

The casting accuracy championship will take place on January 26, 2008 at the Fishing Expo at the Raceway Complex formerly Bassarama. Practice will begin at 9:00 a.m. competition will begin at 12:00 (noon) until 2:00 p.m. Awards will be presented to the winners plus the youth awards following the completion.

The National Youth dues are $25.00 this includes FLW membership.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 3 to reduce the Youth state dues to $5.00. Motion PASSED on the following vote

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 4 to purchase a tournament trailer but not to exceed $7,500.00. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

By the end of the month the youth will have a website. It will have a link to the Virginia Bass Federation website.

Tim Mick wanted to thank everyone for there help in providing boat and supporting the youth events.

Region 7 challenged the other regions to make contribution toward the new tournament trailer. Craig Owens guarantees $2,500.00.

The dates for the two Chapter Team tournaments have been approved by the Corp.

By-law changes are due at the January 20, 2008 board meeting and will be voted on at the March 16, 2008 board meeting.

An emergency by-law change was made to 7.1-3

Motion by the Vice President, seconded by Region 10 to change By-law 7.1-3 Twenty dollars per member dues shall be payable to the Federation by each chapter on the first day of December of the preceding year. Chapter which have not paid their dues by December 31st shall be assessed a penalty of one dollar per chapter member. Motion PASSED on the following vote. Effective January 18, 2007.

Bill Haire, Region 1 Director is resigning and Region 1 will vote on a new director.

Roger wanted to thank Stuart Wood and Region 3 for hosting the Fall Classic.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 3 to re-elect Roger Fitchett as President. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 3 to re-elect Charlie Beale as Vice President. Motion PASSED by unanimous voice vote.

Scotty Stephenson wished everyone Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Region 5 made a motion to change the fish limit from 5 fish to 8 fish for the Children’s Miracle Network tournament. Motion had no seconded.

There being no further business to come before the board meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
