The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President at the Best Western, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed David Sanders and Dennis Ramey from Region 4 and Eddie Johnson Region 2, Assistant Director.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 3 that the minutes of the January 23, 2005 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 5 to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 5 to approve the boat raffle account. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Wayne Burchett as the new Conservation Director.

John Britton reported that the youth corner at Bassarama was a great success. There was a fishing simulator and Ranger donated a front half of a 521 Ranger boat for the kids to use.

With Bass making date changes for the National Championship and the Bassmasters Classic in 2006 this will effect the semi finals of the CastingKids event.

With Bass eliminating the Youth Divisional to qualify juniors for the Junior World Championship, it was left up to each state to conduct their own qualifying tournament. This will be discussed at the youth board meeting.

John Britton reported that the federation has eight junior cubs.

Articles for the Summer issue of Tight Lines are due May 17, 2005.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 8 to make a $100.00 donation to CBAV. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Twenty-five weigh-in bags were purchased.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 8 to make a change to tournament rule #30. This change adds any participant who is issued a citation by a law enforcement official during the tournament shall notify a tournament official of such issuance prior to the scales closing.

Motion passed.

The proposed budget for 2205-2006 was discussed and will be voted on at the June board meeting.

Motion by Region 8, seconded by Region 5 to purchase a new computer for the secretary not to exceed $1,000.00. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 8, seconded by Region 4 to decline the request for Big Lick Bassmasters to move to Region 2.

Motion passed.

There was a discussion of splitting region 4. Abe Street will take this back to his region for further discussion.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 9 to make a donation of $100.00 to the Friends of Leesylvania State Park.

Motion passed.

Motion by Region 8, seconded by Region 3 to pay our share of the cost of a Lake Gaston Stakeholder meeting March 24, 2005 of $170.00. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Roger Fitchett asked Stuart Wood if he would attend the DGIF regulators meeting March 24, 2005.

There will be a Boy Scout charity tournament held on Buggs Island April 17, 2005.

Legacy Bassmasters was accepted as a new club in Region 7.

At the end of 2005 the Water Wheel at Smith Mountain Lake will be closed.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 4 to move the Adam & Eve tournament to Lake Gaston.

Motion defeated. After looking at the results it was not a tie and therefore the president didn’t have to vote it would have been defeated anyway.

Region 5 will hold an open tournament April 3, 2005 on Claytor Lake.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 6 to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
