The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President at the Best Western, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Eddie Johnson, Assistant Region 2 Director and Joan Blankenship the new conservation director.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 5 that the minutes of the July 10, 2005 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 3 to approve the treasure’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

All articles for the winter issue of Tight Lines are due November 1, 2005.

The JWC was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania July 24- 25, 2005.

The State CastingKids finals were held at Bass Pro Shop in Hampton on September 3, 2005. There were twelve kids that participated.

John Britton wanted to thank Rick Wisswell and Tim Mick for their help. Also John wanted to thank the members of Region 8 for all their help at the CastingKids finals.

There will be a youth tournament held on Lake Chesdin, September 17, 2005.

The JWC qualifying tournament will be held October 14, 2005

John reported there are nine junior clubs.

The raffle boat will be shipped September 17, 2005 to Bill’s Marine.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 7 to purchase a Range boat and a Yamaha motor for the 2007 raffle.

At the end of the year Bill’s Marine will no longer be selling bass boats.

There were six boats that participated in the Richmond Sports Backers tournament. The Adult/Youth tournament there was eight boats.

At the Children’s Miracle Network tournament held on the Potomac there was forty-three boats that participated.

The next Children’s Miracle Network tournament will be held October 2, 2005 on Smith Mountain Lake.

On the Smith Mountain Lake tournament for the Children’s Miracle Network tournament only, the length of the fish will be 4 bass 12" and 4 bass 14".

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 1 to eliminate the July board meeting. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

There will be a change in the weigh-in procedure at all state qualifying tournament. The partner with no fish does not have to come to the sign in table. Contestants will sign their weigh-in slip after the fish have been weighed. This will become effective at the Fall Classic.

Doug Clegg is writing a new program for the pairings.

The Federation divisional representatives and the TBA board of directors attended a meeting with Gary Jones Federation Director of BASS to discuss some issues. Mr. Jones told the reps that he would have answers but not at this time. Another meeting is scheduled in 30-45 days.

Insurance on the federation trailer will be tabled until the November board meeting.

There were 114,000 finger length bass released into the Chickahominy River July 13, 2005.by CBVA and DGIF.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 3 to increase the mileage expense to thirty-five cents a mile and forty cents a mile to who ever towed the federation trailer to any state qualifying tournament. Effective November 12, 2005.

Region 2 and Region 5 held a Youth fund raising tournament on Smith Mountain Lake and a donation of $750.00 was made to the youth fund.

Region 1 nominated Roger Fitchett.

Floor was open for nomination for Vice President.

Region 5 nominated Charlie Beale

Amherst Bassmasters were accepted as a new club in Region 2.

Triton Trio, Little River Bassmasters and Hot Shot Bassmasters were accepted as new clubs in Region 4.

Moo Crew was accepted as a new club in Region 7.

Lake Gaston Bassmasters were accepted as a new club in Region 6.

Nottoway Bassmasters was accepted as a new club in Region 8.

Flaming Bass Casters was accepted as a new junior club in Region 6.

Bill Haire reported that he received a letter from Leesylvania State Park that starting next year there will not be a charge for opening early for tournaments. The hours will be 6:00 a.m. weekdays and 5:00 a.m. weekends.

Stuart Wood wanted to thank the board for the plant sent in memory of his Dad that past away.

Region 5 will hold an open tournament October 1, 2005 on Smith Mountain Lake launching out of Penhook.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 7 that the rescue boat volunteer is paid mileage one way to get to the tournament site.

Motion defeated.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 5 that the rescue boat volunteer is reimbursed if his vehicle is used for a rescue during tournament hours.

For anyone that remembers Theresa Gammons who used to help at the weigh-ins she died August 26, 2005.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 5 to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
