The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President at Brian’s Steak House, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Ray Allen, Assistant Region 8 Director and Dennis Ramey from Region 4 .

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 7 that the minutes of the March 13, 2005 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 5 to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 4 to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 7 that one check will be written to the each region director for the raffle ticket payback. The region director will distrube the money to each club. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

Roger Fitchett passed out a guideline for forming a new region. Abe Street will take this back to Region 4 for further discussion.

Directors were asked to look for a new conservation director.

John Britton gave everyone a list of the junior clubs and a tournament schedule.

The state finals for the CastinKids will be September 3, 2005 at the Bass Pro Shop in Hampton, Virginia.

The qualifying tournament for the 2006 Junior World Championship will be held October 14 – 16, 2005.

Articles for the Fall issue of Tight Lines are due August 1, 2005.

The CBVA still needs donations for the stocking of bass.

There will be 114,000, 2 – 3 inch bass released in the Chickahominy River July 5, 2005.

Roger Fitchett attended a meeting with the Lake Gaston Stakeholders to discuss ways to control the weeds in Lake Gaston.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 9 to approve the 2005-2006 raffle and the general account budgets. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Doug Fisher has resigned as the Region 8 Director.

The By-laws state the position must be filled immediately. A letter from the region 8 secretary stating that Doug Fisher has resigned and the name of the new director must be sent to the federation.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 4 to approve the raffle proposal. That each member must sell twenty tickets or a book.

Region 1 – No Region 5 – Yes Region 9 - No

Region 2 – No Region 6 – No V. Pres. - Yes

Region 3 – No Region 7 - No

Region 4 – Yes Region 8 – Abstain

Motion defeated.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 4 to be eligible to receive the top club award in each region of $150.00 a minimum of 120 tickets must be sold. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

A Dell Dimension 3000 computer has been purchased for $868.36 for the Secretary/Treasurer.

The Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation won the National award from Lowrance and $10,000.00..

Motion by Region 8, seconded Region 5 to give Abby Ryan a $100.00 gift certificate. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

The Boy Scout charity tournament raised $1,800.00

The Richmond Sports Backers and the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation will be holding an open tournament July 1, 2005 at Osborne Landing. Anyone interested can go to www.sportsbackers.org and download an entry form.

There are four MotorGuide trolling motors available for any director that would like to purchase and raffle off for their region.

Region 2, 3, 4 and 5 will purchase trolling motors.

Any region wanting to purchase weigh-in bags contact Roger Fitchett.

There will be a Children’s Miracle Network charity tournament on Buggs Island on June 25, 2005.

The board voted to give Ann Dalton, Secretary/Treasurer a salary increase.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 7 if a new trailer is purchased that the old trailer be given to the Youth Director to use for the youth program.

Motion passed.

The host region for the 2006 Mr. Bass is Region 6. Region 6 will host the tournament on Lake Gaston.

Region 7 is donating their old PA system to the youth program.

The St. Jude tournament will be held July 8, 2005 on the Potomac River.

Motion by Region 5 seconded by Region 3 to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 p.m.
