The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President at Best Western, South Hill, Virginia.
Roger Fitchett welcomed Cheryl Allen.
There is a correction to the minutes of the June 12, 2005 board meeting. Page two; paragraph one to remove the word director.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 with the correction that the June 12, 2005 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 3 to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Articles for the fall issue of Tight Lines are due August 1, 2005.
The CastingKids event for the state finals will be held September 3, 2005 at the Bass Pro Shop in Hampton, Virginia.
The Junior World Championship qualiing tournament for 2006 will be held October 14-15, 2005 on Lake Chesdin. If anyone could donate their time and boat for this tournament, please contact John Britton.
The SummerFest at Claytor Lake has been canceled due to the lack of entries.
Please wish Billy Arens and Shawn Britton well at the Junior World Championship in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, July 23-25, 2005.
The CBAV still needs donations for the stocking of bass.
There will be 114,000 2-3 inch bass released in the Chickahominy River July 13, 2005.
A letter from Dean Kessel who is Vice President of Operations Bass/ESPN wrote a letter to Governor Easley of North Carolina explaining that Bass recently became aware of an effort by the North Carolina Division of Water Resources to circumvent the Lake Gaston Stakeholders and persuade local Lake Gaston residents that grass carp are the cheapest, most reliable solution for the Lake Gaston aquatic vegetation problems. The Lake Gaston Stakeholders and BASS strongly disagree and would like the cooperation of the NC Division of Water Resource to work with LGSB and within the framework of the established Science Team.
Budget request are due at the September board meeting.
At this time Region 4 has not completed their discussion of the region split.
There were six boats that participated in the Richmond Sports Backers tournament held Friday, July1, 2005 on the James River.
There were eight boats that participated in the Marshall Bassmasters Adult/Youth tournament held Saturday July 2, 2005 on the James River.
The raffle boat and motor have been ordered.
The four trolling motors have been ordered that region 2, 3, 4 and 5 will purchase.
At the September board meeting Roger Fitchett will do an update on sponsors.
Charlie Beale will find an insurance company to insure the federation trailer and the contents.
There were forty- six boats at the Children’s Miracle Network tournament held on Buggs Island. June 6, 2005. A $1,000.00 donation was made to the Children’s Miracle Network of Norfolk.
The next Children’s’ Miracle Network tournament will be held August 27, 2005 on the Potomac River.
Region 2 and Region 5 will hold an open Youth Fund raiser August 6, 2005 on Smith Mountain Lake.
Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 3 to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
