The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President at the Best Western, South Hill, Virginia.
Roger Fitchett welcomed Jim Geiser, Representative of Region 7.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 that the minutes of the June 13, 2004 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 9 to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Information was presented on the Region 4 Summerfest on Claytor Lake, August 12-14, 2004. There are 21 anglers registered from the junior program for a two day tournament. Arrangements have been worked out with the local Ranger dealers to supply amateurs to fish in this tournament with the junior anglers.
The Junior Eastern Division in Vermont was held on Lake Champlain, July 9, 2004 out of Mallets Bay. Juniors on practice days were catching creels of five in the neighborhood of 10 lbs, with the kicker bass weighing over 3 lbs. This gave the juniors and the boat captains an experience they will never forget. The team and the captains would like to say thank you to the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation for this opportunity.
The boat captains were Kenny Brown, Ronnie Brewer, Mike Renshaw and Rick Wisswell.
The Junior team finished third with 37.35 lbs.
The standing for the state in the age group 11 to14 are.
First place Billy Arens (5th overall )
Second place Bruce Heflin
Third place Wayne Beasley
The standing for the state in the age group 15 to 18 are.
First place Shawn Britton (3rd overall)
Second place Matthew Goodwin
Third place John Oliver
Since Bill Haire has missed two consecutive board meetings a letter will be sent to each president in Region 1.
Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 3 that meals for the region director not be reimbursed for region meetings.

Motion passed.
Directors were reminded to take names of anyone interested in fishing the amateur side of the 2005 Tour event. We are guaranteed three slots on the amateur side. A drawing will be held at the September board meeting. So far the following names have been submitted Kenny Beale, Jr., Bill Roberts, Pete Robbins, and Tim McCoy.
The board agreed to purchase two MotorGuide trolling motors and receive two free ones.
Region 3, 4 and 6 would like to purchase one of the trolling motors.
Roger Fitchett reported that he had received the trolling motor that goes on the raffle boat.
A financial report to years ending was given.
Region 4 is still in negotiation for the 2005 Mr. Bass.
The host region for the 2005 Fall Classic is Region 7. Region 7 will host the tournament on Buggs Island Lake.
The next Children’s Miracle Network tournament will be held August 28, 2004 on Potomac River. Directors please remind you members.
Russ Shetley will provide the help for the set up and weigh in for the Children’s Miracle Network tournament.
You must have a USCG permit (Coast Guard) if you have a tournament on any body of water in the state of Virginia. A letter of explanation and a application was handed out to each director. You can download an application from the web site at www.uscg.mil/d5/group/hamptonroads If you have any questions you can call Lt. Mark Bafetti at 757-483-8567 or fax him at 757-483-8744.
At the September board meeting a decision will be made about how to generate revenue for the federation.
Region 6 will hold an adult/youth fund raiser September 26, 2004 on Lake Chesdin.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 6 to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
