The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by the President at the Best Western, South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Rick Wisswell, Representative of Region 7 and Steve Falkenthal, Representative of Region 9.

An addition to the June minutes. The board received a letter from Moneta Bassmasters requesting a refund of their Chapter Team entry fee. A week before the tournament the Presidents mother died and he was unable to assemble the six-man team.

The board also received a letter from Big Lick Bassmasters requesting a refund of their Chapter Team entry and some expenses. The Big Lick team had driven from Roanoke and Blacksburg to South Hill and spent several days on the tournament waters. Thursday morning a member of their team became quite ill and returned to Blacksburg. They were not able to find a replacement so they were not allowed to fish and went home Thursday night.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 1 with the additions that the minutes of June 22, 2003 be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 3 to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Tad Phipps is still looking for a corporation to sponsor the Conservation Award.

The Junior Invitational was held July 11, 2003 on Buggs Island Lake. The first place state was New Jersey, second was New York and third was West Virginia.

All articles for the fall issue of Tight Lines are due August 23, 2003.

Motion by Region 4, seconded by Region 2 to purchase two MotorGuide trolling motors. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 to approve the 2003-2004 general account budget. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

David Hart who is a writer for B.A.S.S. magazine wants to interview any clubs that do a paper weigh in.

Al Smith, Federation Director has been terminated from his job at B.A.S.S.

The next Children’s Miracle Network tournament will be held August 24, 2003 on the Potomac River. Directors please remind your members.

There were seventy-four boats that participated in the St. Jude tournament July 11, 2003 on the Potomac River.

Motion by Region3, seconded by Region 2 to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 11:00 A.M.
