The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. by the President at the Best Western in South Hill, Virginia.

Roger Fitchett welcomed Bob Gillis, Region 7 Youth Coordinator.

Correction to the June 24, 2001 minutes. Page 3, paragraph 4 the date for the Mr. Bass Championship is April 6-7, 2002. Correction to the June 24, 2001 minutes. Page 4, paragraph 7 should be in order to win a Federation Youth Award your state must have a Junior Chapter.

Motion by S. Wood, seconded by S. Woodroof with the corrections that the minutes of the July 15, 2001 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by S. Wood, seconded by S. Woodroof to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by S. Woodroof, seconded by S. Wood to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Any director that would like to submit prices and types of boat for the 2003 raffle boat must do so at the September board meeting.

According to DGIF, Lake Frederick belongs to the County of Frederick. The contractor has met all the criteria for building around the lake from DGIF.

The run off into the rivers from the sludge that is being used on farmland contain a toxic substance called BDE. Studies are being done to see what harm, if any there is to fish and humans

Directors were asked to keep inquiring about anyone interested in becoming the state Conservation Director.

John Britton ask the directors to help in getting information from the Youth Coordinators about the youth events in their region.

A check for $1,000.00 will be given to our CastingKids champion for travel expenses to the Bassmasters Classic.

Tight Lines articles are due August 10, 2001.

At the September board meeting a packet will be given to each director about the Fall Classic.

Sam Robinson wanted to thank Roger Fitchett for taking the federation trailer to the St. Jude tournament on July 13, 2001.

The next Children’s Miracle Network tournament will be August 25, 2001 on the Potomac River.

When filling out an expense voucher list each event on a separate voucher.

No mileage expenses will be paid to volunteers at any of the tournaments.

Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 7 to accept the proposed budget. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 6 to go with the recommendation from Peter Herbst to move to the higher end server for the web page at the cost of $40.25 per month.

Joan Holmes and Sid Ryan will present a proposal to increase state tournament entry fees at the September board meeting..

Motion by S. Wood, seconded by S. Woodroof to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 P.M.
