The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. by the President at the Best Western in South Hill, Virginia.
Roger Fitchett welcomed Brenda Beale and Steven Bobb, Region 2 Assistant Director.
Roger Fitchett introduced the new board members. Region 4 Director, Ed Clayton, Region 5 Director, Joan Holmes, Region 6 Director, Scotty Stephenson and Region 8 Director, David Aliff.
Plaques were presented to Paul Whitehurst outgoing Vice President, Charlie Beale outgoing Region 5 Director and Jim Dalton outgoing Region 8 Director. Not present were Jeff Williams outgoing Region 4 Director, Tony Muller outgoing State Youth Director and Chuck Viator outgoing Web Master.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 1 that the minutes of the November 19 , 2000 board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 1, seconded by Region 9 that the treasurer's report be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 1, seconded by Region 9 that the Boat Raffle account be approved Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Motion by Region 2, seconded by Region 9 that Lake Orange Bassmasters move from Region 2 to Region 9 in good standing. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Sam Robinson, Region 1 Director reported that the Prince William County Board of Supervisors voted 5-3 to approve the development application proposed by Legend Properties for the Cherry Hill Peninsula.
Mitchell Perkins, the State Conservation Director reported that House Bill 851 and House Bill 2484 had been submitted which would allow the Virginia Marine Resources to take money from the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. The phone number to call and express your concern is 800-889-0229.
The federation is looking for someone interested in serving as the State Conservation Director. Directors are to ask their region members if anyone is interested. If so contact Roger Fitchett.
Russ Shetley recommended that Ed Rhodes be reinstated as Conservation Director. Directors are to e-mail Roger Fitchett with their comments.
Joan Holmes, Tight Lines Editor reminded everyone that the deadline for articles is February 9, 2001
Abby Ryan reported that she had received some articles and pictures from the clubs for the Federation Awards Scrapbook. The deadline for articles and pictures is February 15, 2001. Directors, remind all clubs to start saving for next year's scrapbook.
The raffle boat will be given away at Bassarama , January 28, 2001.
Motion by Region 1, seconded by Region 7 to purchase a lap top computer and printer to be used for the State Federation tournaments, at the cost of $3,000.00. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
The 2001 Mr. Bass, Chapter Team and the East Division contracts have been signed by Frank Malone, executive director of the South Hill Chamber of Commerce.
Roger Fitchett received a letter from the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce/Partnership stating that the chamber had approved the money and in-kind services for the 2001 Fall Classic that will be held on Smith Mountain Lake.
The 2002 boat raffle contract with Ranger has been signed. The raffle boat will be available for clubs to use for selling tickets.
Recommendation from Region 1 that a holding tank be placed on the end of the dock at North Bend during the Chapter Team tournaments.
Motion by Region 1, seconded by Region 7 to change Tournament rule 27 back to a five fish limit.

Motion defeated.
Motion by Region 1, to change tournament rule 27 to a one pound penalty for dead fish. Motion defeated due to no second.
By-Law changes were submitted and will be voted on at the March board meeting.
The new Web site will be on line January 23, 2001. The cost of the service is $17.95 a month.
Due to a suggestion from a CPA there will be two budgets, one for the boat raffle and one for the general account.
The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society has invited all State Youth Directors to attend the National B.A.S.S. Tournament in April.
Motion by Region 5, seconded by Region 3 that the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation pay for the State Youth Director's airfare to attend the National Federation Tournament. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
The Potomac Watershed Roundtable is a new organization formed to protect the Potomac River. The Conservation Director, Region 1 and Region 9 Directors will check on this organization to see if the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation should be involved.
There will be no boat available to give away at the Children's Miracle Network Classic.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 1 to raise the entry fee of the Children's Miracle Network tournament from $80.00 to $100.00. The additional $20.00 will be held from each entry for a guaranteed payback of $5,000.00 at the Children's Miracle Network Classic. Expenses will come from the remainder of the $20.00. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
The sweatshirts and T-shirts that were ordered are ready and will be sold at Bassarama. The sweatshirts are $!5.00 and the T-shirts are $10.00.
Wiggington Road Bassmasters was accepted as a new club in Region 2.
Heart of Virginia Bassmasters was accepted as a new club in Region 3.
Suggestion from Region 3 to add additional prizes to the boat raffle. The board took no action because it was done before and it was unsuccessful.
Motion by Region 3, seconded by Region 2 that the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation donate a plaque to the Virginia Taxidermy Association for best mount of a fish. Approximate cost is $30.00. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
The Children's Miracle Network entry forms will be available at the March board meeting.
Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 2 to adjourn the meeting.
