The meeting was called to order at 9:00 A.M. by the President at the Best Western in South Hill, Virginia. 

Roger Fitchett welcomed Dean Fowler and Bob Greenlee from VDGIF. Bill Haire, Region 1 Assistant Director and Steven Bobb, Region 2 Assistant Director.

Dean Fowler and Bob Greenlee gave a report on  the Largemouth Bass Committee. Bass Anglers Information Team (BAIT) is being used to compile and analyze tournament records of the State’s bass fishing clubs.

Motion by S. Wood, seconded by S. Woodroof  that the minutes of the July 15, 2001  board meeting be approved. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by S. Wood, seconded by S. Stephenson to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by S. Woodroof, seconded by R. Shetley to approve the boat raffle report. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Region 7, seconded by Region 6 to approve the Tight Lines ad rate increase. Motion carried by unanimous voice vote.

John Britton reported there were one hundred forty eight entries into the Youth Essay contest. The essays will be judged at the November board meeting.

Abby Ryan reported on the Awards Book, Virginia won the Eastern Division Federation Community Service Award.  Mrs. Ryan wants everyone to send  pictures and articles for all events to her so she can start on next years book.

Region 4 wanted to go on record, that they object to the 2002 Mr. Bass Championship being held on the Chickahominy River.

The Children’s Miracle Network tournament held on the Potomac River donated $1,500.00 to the Children’s Miracle Network to UVA in Charlottesville.

On the entry form for the Children’s Miracle Network tournaments it reads, I am waiving and releasing all contestants from all claims for personal injury or property incurred in connection with this tournament. Next year’s Children’s Miracle  Network entry form, the work contestants will be removed.

By-law changes 7.3-1, 7.3-2 and 7.3-3 were submitted and will be voted on at the November board meeting.

The 2002 raffle boat has been paid for and has been picked up from Bill’s Marine.

Next year Motorguide will provide a backup trolling motor and shirts for the East Division team members.

The B.A.S.S. Times will dedicate eight pages for federation news. Sid Ryan  volunteered to write the articles for B.A.S.S. Times.

The 2002 schedule of events was given to each director.

There was a discussion of the Ranger boat program Vs the B.A.S.S. Federation Alliance. A decision will be made at the November board meeting.

The floor was open for nominations for  President. Scotty Stephenson nominated Roger Fitchett.

Motion by Stuart Wood, seconded by Scotty Stephenson to close nominations.

The floor was open for nominations for Vice  President. Stuart Wood nominated Charlie Beale.

Motion by Stuart Wood, seconded by Steve Woodroof to close nominations.

Motion by S. Woodroof, seconded by R. Shetley to accept Blue Ridge Mountain Bassmasters to Region 2 provided they pay their Federation dues.

Appomattox Bassmasters requested  a  fund of $120.00 because they had won two free entries into Mr. Bass. One by ticket sales and the other by top Chapter at the Chapter Team Championship.

Motion by Region 9, seconded by Region 7 to give Appomattox Bassmasters a $120.00 credit for the  2002  Chapter Team Championship. Motion passed by unanimous voice vote.

Motion by Stuart Wood, seconded by Steve Woodroof to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 P.M.
