Established in 1983, Flowmaster has steadily grown from operating in an 800-square foot barn to a 100,000 square foot facility in Santa Rosa, California. Flowmaster currently employs between 300-400 individuals and is the #1 after-market exhaust company in the world. It prides itself on research intensive product development and state-of-the-art engineering that pinpoints engine cycles to a millionth of a second.
Flowmaster was established in response to overly loud car races. The product has achieved its goal of reducing the noise associated with such races, and has brought many racetracks near cities into compliance with local sound ordinances. Flowmaster products achieve an overall better sound profile by eliminating damaging high pitch sounds, which lowers the tone to a much more ear-friendly level. The unintended but value-added by-product of developing a quieter exhaust system was a muffler that bolstered the engine power and created greater fuel efficiency.
Flowmaster is the official muffler for many automotive and racing organizations, and also sponsors numerous sporting organizations such as B.A.S.S. The connection with fishermen came because Flowmaster was looking to expand their market outside of the racing arena and recognized that boaters represent a strong market of individuals interested in high-performance transportation. Flowmaster was the first (and, to this day, still the only) B.A.S.S. sponsor to start out at the federation level then move on to become a Bassmasters Classic sponsor.
Flowmaster provides state federations with two gift certificates that are redeemable for a full exhaust system. The federations sign an agreement with Flowmaster stating that Flowmaster will be their only exhaust system sponsor. In addition to the gift certificates, the federation receives literature and banners. In a normal year the Virginia federation gives out one gift certificate at each of the chapter team tournaments.
Interested? It’s easy to get a Flowmaster muffler system. Most muffler shops carry the Flowmaster product and can install a new system on your tow vehicle in less than one hour. For a dealer listing, go to Flowmaster’s web site at www.flowmastermufflers.com. A typical system retails for $450-$500 but the "street" price is usually around $250 plus installation. Flowmaster will give federation members a discount on their system if you call Stephen Anderson at 800.511.6662 ext. 430. Make sure to let Stephen know you are a Virginia Federation member and he will direct you to a dealer that will provide a substantial discount on a exhaust system and the system will be shipped to you free!
