Eugene Hester

 

Eugene Hester is a fishery biologist and avid fisherman. He recently retired after a career of 38 years, first as a college professor at N. C. State University followed by administrative positions in the Interior Department in Washington, DC, primarily with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Park Service.

He now spends more time fishing with his sons and grandchildren, and photographing and writing about outdoor adventures. As chief executive officer of a national fishery conservation organization, he established contact with and access to industry leaders, government officials, many prominent outdoor writers, and the leadership of the conservation/environmental community.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Natural Resources Council of America (seventy-plus national environmental/conservation organizations) serving a term as its Chairman. He is currently Vice-Chairman of the United States – Central and Eastern European Environmental Foundation.
