Dean Fowler |

Dean Fowler has been employed with the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries since 1988. In his current position, Dean is primarily focused on coordinating a new initiative to restore the American shad stock in the Rappahannock River, assisting with evaluations of fishways ("ladders") at dams, and coordination of the Department’s fish aging program and the Fisheries Division’s web site. Past job duties have included management of the Department’s Striped Bass Restoration Program for Chesapeake Bay, management of river and reservoir fisheries in the Coastal Plain, and development of outreach programs. Dean obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in fisheries management from Ohio State University in 1982 and a Master of Forest Resources degree with a concentration in fishery biology from the University of Georgia in 1985. He previously worked as a fisheries biologist for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
